Our two little girls

If any of you know Mckenzie at all, you can understand why we were so worried about the arrival of Abby. We had no idea how Mckenzie would react when she had to share mommy with someone new. The day we brought Abby home, we knew that all the worrying was needless. Mckenzie is in awe of Abby. I'm always finding her checking in on Abby (I think she checks on Abby more than I do), giving her waves hello, kisses, making sure she has blankets and overall is happy. She actually does a good job at not smothering Abby and she's quite gentle with her. Today was the first time we saw remorse from Mckenzie. I know she's not even 2, but she had it today. It's a long story, but to sum it up Mckenzie had taken a pacifier from Abby. It was something little, but to her it was a big deal once she realized that she was making things a little more difficult on Abby and she continued for the next 5+ minutes to make things right and better. She watches out for her sister. It's amazing to see our two little girls have such a close bond already.

Superbowl!

My (Jessica) brother Shelby won the Superbowl (for his age group that is)!!! We're so proud of him. He has worked so hard this season. He's number 94 and played defensive end. Congrats, Shelby!

Our baby is here!

Ok, so I know I've been quite the slacker at getting pictures and information on our blog about our new addition. I hope this will do for now. Last Thursday we went for our weekly ob visit. It went well even though we found out that I was still only dilated 1cm. The doctor decided that we'd schedule to be induced on the 19th, so we were really excited. After dropping off Dan at work, Mckenzie and I came home and sure enough my water broke. I didn't have a clue what it was because I didn't really experience any labor symptoms with Mckenzie. So, I ended up calling the dr.'s office at 1:30 and hadn't heard back by 3:30. Went and picked up Dan from work and called the dr again. They said it was indeed my water and that I needed to go to the hospital. So, off we went with our inquisitive and energetic 17 month old to the hospital while we waited in the triage for 5 hours! My amazing brother Max flew down to take care of Mckenzie and while Dan was picking him up, I finally was able to get into a room. I had hoped for a VBAC and was thrilled that the time had come for me to have this baby! I was amazed at the precautions they took with me and felt comforted in knowing that I was being taken care of. By 1pm on Friday I had only dilated to a 3 and had developed an infection from having had my water break 24 hours prior. I developed a severe fever and babybaby's heart rate increased greatly since she was fighting off the fever warmth as well. So, sure enough I had another emergency c-section. The surgery went well and babybaby was put in the NICU. They tested my placenta and found that although I had tested negative, my placenta was full of Group B Strep. So, babybaby was put on antibiotics and only had to stay in NICU one extra day than me. Now we're home safe, healthy and happy. Here's the info on our sweet little one:
Name: Abigail Nora Wood. Abigail because we like the name and Nora is my great-great-grandmother's name.
Time/Date of birth: November 9, 2007 at 2:36pm
Weight and Height: 7lbs 6oz and 20 1/2 inches
Abby loves to eat! She looks exactly like Mckenzie did when she was born except for Abby has chubby cheeks and her hair is thicker. We are so blessed to have her in our family.
How's Mckenzie handling having Abby around? SHE ADORES ABBY! When she's around, Mckenzie can't help but smile. She tries so hard to be kind and gentle to her by giving her hugs and kisses. She's in this stage of tickeling, so she tries to tickle her whenever around.
My mom came down and spent a week with us. She is a most amazing person. I don't know what we would have done without her. She has done everything from cleaning, to driving everywhere, doing errands to taking care of Mckenzie. She comes back tomorrow night and will stay through Thanksgiving. THANK YOU, MOM!!!
At this time, we can't help but be humbled, in awe and in gratitude for all that we've been blessed with. Life isn't always easy and we have to go through obstacles, but when everything is said and done we can only turn to our Father in Heaven in gratitude. We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Fun pictures of Mckenzie lately

Happy Halloween

I know it's been a little while since Halloween, but I figured it's better late than never to get pictures up right? Mckenzie was a whoopie cushion this year and it was a big hit! Intel has a trick or treating event at the office. The kids went from cubical to cubical. For a 17 month old we were shocked at how much candy she got. I don't remember getting as much as she did. Everyone thought she was adorable so when she went for more than one candy they didn't mind at all. We also went to the ward trunk or treat and then to my cousins home to trick or treat. I think Mckenzie thinks Halloween is the coolest. Ever since, she has wanted to wear her whoopie cushion costume. If only she understood what a whoopie cushion really was.
