MEMORIES

I'm sure most of you in the "blogging community" have either done or seen this. I just didn't want to feel left out and I thought it'd be a nice addition for when I turn this blog into a hard copy family journal. So, PLEASE do this for me! Here's what you do.

1. As a comment on our blog, leave one memory that you and I (it can be about Dan, Jessica or both) had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't have a blog, you can still participate. If you don't want to play on your blog, that's fine. Just write something on mine. Just click where it says comments at the bottom of THIS post and go from there.

OK. I have a good one. I remember when we were roommates at Ricks, back when it was still Ricks. There were 6 of us in that apt. including one great European girl. The only problem with her European-ness was that she seemed to use the only deodorant made that didn't work. So, you, me and Rachel D. schemed and schemed to get her to try a new deodorant. All to no avail! Even though we never got rid of the B.O., we had tons of fun trying!

Oh there are so many!!!
Ok, well, one of my favorites is going down the river bed in Idaho. We borrowed inner tubes from Dan's family, and I still don't remember what we did with Alli, I think Dan's folks took her, or someone in the ward.
It was so fun. I got to have the kids tube (which was too small by the way!) and so I was pretty much sunk in the water most of the way, except my head and part of my arms. I also remember being really cold because of it, and I get cold easily anyhow. The river forked and Jess and I went one way and Jed and Dan went the other.

Jess let me pull over because I was turning purple with cold and shaking like an earthquake. I made a complete fool of myself at the edge of the river bed (which was also part of a gold course apparently) as I ran around and jumped like a idiot, and did about anything to warm myself up. I think I blinded Jessica with my whiteness, but her eye sight came back a week later, so I think we she forgave me (: j/k.

A little before this happened we were floating down and saw a short (like two feet) water fall ahead. It was man made. It had a weird sort of shallow bridge over it. Jessica debated getting out and walking past it, and then did so. It didn't look so bad so I just kept going. As I got closer I changed my mind, but I was too far from the edge by then. I went through it. Maybe it wouldn't had been so bad if I didn't sink so low , I'm not sure. but I got pretty scraped up, and of course my dear Jessica watched and ...get this.... LAUGHED! Now there's a good friend for ya! I love you too Jess! (:
Anyway...I had so much fun, I keep wishing I could do it again every year, even with a kid tube. Do they do that sort of thing in Boston?
-Thanks guys,
Laura

RACHEL! I tell everyone about my Chek Republic roommate! I love that story!!! We really did try EVERYTHING!!! Thanks for the laughs. You were such an awesome roommate!
LAURA! I laughed the whole time I read your story. That was so much fun. I am really fighting the urge to put on my blog that picture of you jumping around on the golf course trying to get warm. Don't worry, I won't. I'm not sure if we have those around Boston or not. We do have the beach though!

my favorite memory has to be in Russia when Dan and I were on the Chely runs, and were spending one night each week in the Malaxut motel to extend our registration in Russia for one more day before we had to get back to Yekaterinburg. Dan and I weren't companions, but after our comps went to bed, we stayed up late one night just talking about "stuff". Also, I enjoyed spending 4 hours each way from Chelyabinsk to Yekaterinburg each week on the marshroot. Learning to do the Rubicks cube... and listening to the radio- Genie in a bottle... need I say more? Ok, that's real random. But it was fun nonetheless.

Well, I lived with Dan before you did, Jessica. It was actually rather intimate--we shared the downstairs bathroom at the big house every morning. He was getting ready for early morning dance team practice (I think) and I was newly married and doing my student teaching at Archer Elementary. Our schedules often seemed to be conflicting somehow, yet neither one of us wanted to make the extra effort to go all the way upstairs. Streaking around downstairs was just too convenient. Needless to say, teenager Dan was, shall I say, delightful first thing in the morning.
Now the kids favorite memory would be playing Wii, of course.
But my new favorite memories are the sweet smiles that the girls left here in Idaho...thanks.

Jessica - I have great memories you you from Ricks, however, I would say my favorite would have to be going to the 311 concert in Denver and getting back stage to meet Nick Hexum. (I still have a little piece in my heart for him) Now that was a good memory.

Jess- I remember meeting you as my cousin, Jeanette's roommate. Also I remember that you were my visiting teacher. You were good at it too! Also- the Backstreet Brides hanging out at your apartment! Do you remember them? It's funny what you remember. I also remember your stinky roommate! How funny!
