A little boy in a pet shop

Yesterday, we went looking for new phones and plans at the mall. While Dan was finishing up, I took Mckenzie and Abby to the pet shop. Mckenzie adores animals and wants a dog SOOOOOO bad! Anyway, while we were looking at the different puppies, a cute little 5 year old boy runs in the store right up to the cashier, puts a bunch of waded up dollar bills on the counter and says "my daddy gave me this money, can I please have a puppy." The 2 girls working tried so hard to keep from laughing because he was being so serious and he was so cute. They had no idea what to say. Finally, one of the girls said "I'm sorry, but this is not enough to buy a puppy". He put his arm down on the counter and then laid his head upon his arm and sat there for a minute. We all just sat there with our hearts melting as we watched this little boy try hard not to cry. After a minute, he looked up, grabbed his money and walked quickly out of the shop (his dad was right outside the store). A couple of minutes later, this little boy and his dad walk in the store. The little boy's eyes were lit up with excitement. They looked at the different dogs together and the little boy picked a rat terrier (UGLY) because he had spots! I left with the girls soon after, so I'm not exactly sure what all happened, but I did see them walking down the mall without a puppy. I am amazed at how animals can bring such joy and excitement to children. I am so excited for the day that we buy a puppy for Mckenzie and Abby to love and take care of!
